b5 in small doses...good or bad? |
from readin other posts, it seems b5 is only effective in gigantic doses...i was wondering if anybody had any kind of sucess by using it in smaller doses.

It works!! i was on b5 for over a year and i stayed at the same dose which was 3.5g and 50mg zinc and it took me 4 months to get clear. I think it is ludicrous when people say b5 ONLY works by mega dosing. Taking a lower dose means it takes longer to see results and you avoid a BAD initial breakout.
Be warned b5 is only a temporary fix i came off it as the effects were wearing off and it was to pricey to maintain.

whatspoppin01 03-24-2003, 04:15 PM thanks for the reply. im just kinda scared to try somethin new. My face isn't really that bad. It'd be really nice to clear it up, but id almost rather put up with what i have now, then have to deal with an initial breakout from the b5. I had to deal with an initial breakout with retin a and that initial breakout was monsterous and extremely long. After retina im scared to try anything else. Is the b5 initial breakout like a week long thing or are we talkin like months? Although im sure it differs from person to person, i guess i just need kind of a rough idea of what to expect if i do decide to go on it.

xKaShyLahx 03-24-2003, 04:24 PM No, the initial breakout shouldn't be for long. For me it was 5 days after i started taking it and it was like a rash on my forehead. It was their for say 2 weeks. But like i said the higher the dose the more likely u are to have a nasty 1st reaction. If your thinking of trying it start off on 2g and increase if u need to. GOOD LUCK! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

tiredofacne!!!!!!!!! 03-24-2003, 04:29 PM I think 60% of people don't even experince the initial breakout, and like the person above said in small dossages you won't "really" experince any initial break out. I've been on 6-10 grams of b5 for just over a month now, and i'm happy with the results. Certainly not perfect yet, but much better. Accuatane took me at least two months to be totally clear, so seeing as this drug isn't nearly as strong, i think i'm on the road to clear.
